Frank Morris
Frank Morris was born September 1st, 1926 in Washington D.C. Morris had a very unstable life during his childhood. He was arrested multiple times in his youth and was arrested for grand larceny. His mother and father abandoned him and he was placed in a foster home when he was 11. He got into a life of crime early, leading to him being convicted of his first crime at the age of 13. He reportedly ranked in the top 2% of the general population in intelligence, with an apparent IQ score of 133. Due to his very high intelligence, many consider him to be mastermind of the escape plan. He served time in jail in Florida and Georgia, and was eventually placed in the Louisiana State Penitentiary and was serving 10 years for a bank robbery. He escaped from the Louisiana State Penitentiary and was recaptured a year later, while committing a burglary, and was sent to Alcatraz in January 1960. Frank spent two and a half years in Alcatraz before the escape. |
. Clarence Anglin
Clarence Anglin was born on May 11, 1931 in Donalsonville, Georgia. His family eventually moved to Florida. He and his brother, John worked as laborers and farmers. Clarence's life of crime began early as he was first caught stealing from a service station at the age of 14. Anglin was sentenced to 15-20 years in prison for bank heists that he committed along with his brother, John. They were put in multiple prisons in Florida, Kansas, & Georgia, which they tried to break out of multiple times. Therefore, Clarence, and his brother John were transferred to the ultimate maximum security prison, Alcatraz. Clarence was moved to Alcatraz two months after his brother, in January 1961. Clarence spent a year and a half years in Alcatraz before the escape. |
John Anglin John Anglin was born on May 2nd, 1930 in Donalsonville, Georgia. His family eventually moved to Florida. He and his brother, Clarence worked as laborers and farmers. John was only in Alcatraz for a year and a half before he escaped on June 11th, 1962. |
